SMART performance and technology Pessac – University of Bordeaux

The SMART of the University of Bordeaux is a building named “Sport, Movement, Ambition, Research, and Technology.” It is a 4200 m² state-of-the-art connected gymnasium inaugurated in 2024. The facility is dedicated to research, training, innovation, and sports practice, equipped with two connected gyms, a physical preparation room, dance and fitness spaces, and seminar rooms.

SMART integrates advanced technologies such as sensors (motion, muscle and brain activity, eye-tracking, GPS), robotic cameras, and indoor tracking solutions. The collected data is centralized in a database and displayed in a digital collaboration room designed to support athletes and technical teams with decision-making and performance analysis.

The building serves as a hub for athletes, researchers, and industry to better understand human motor skills and sporting performance. It was accredited as a preparatory center for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and promotes integration of innovation with sports, research, and student life.

Salle Bellegrave – Pessac

The handball court at the Bellegrave sports hall in Pessac is part of the Bellegrave Sports Complex located on Avenue du Colonel Jacqui. It is a high-quality facility featuring a nearly new wooden floor and modern equipment. The hall offers excellent access and free unlimited parking nearby. It hosts matches and training sessions for the local handball club, Stade Pessacais Union Club Handball (SPUC), which also runs health and community sports activities. The facility is well suited for handball competitions with a lively and sportive atmosphere, welcoming women’s, men’s, and youth teams.
